We’re looking for a Data Management & Governance Specialist to join our Data team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. This is a new role and an opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping how the firm manages, protects, and leverages its data. You’ll take a hands‑on, pragmatic approach to building strong data foundations—improving quality, reliability, and accessibility—while also supporting key data protection activities alongside the Data Protection Officer.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Data Governance & Foundations
- Build and embed practical, firm‑wide data governance processes.
- Develop and maintain the data catalogue, business glossary, and metadata standards.
- Define data ownership, stewardship, lineage, and classification frameworks.
- Support the rollout and ongoing optimisation of a data catalogue platform.
- Data Quality
- Define and implement data quality rules with business stakeholders.
- Identify issues, conduct root‑cause analysis, and drive remediation.
- Monitor and report on data quality trends, improving data capture and lifecycle management.
- Data Protection Support (as needed)
- Assist with DPIAs, DSARs, and data mapping activities.
- Support breach and incident investigations.
- Help maintain accurate Records of Processing Activities (ROPA).
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with teams across the business, including Legal, Compliance, and InfoSec.
- Translate complex data concepts into clear, practical guidance.
- Deliver engaging awareness sessions to promote good data practices.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in data governance, data management, or data quality roles.
- Strong understanding of core data management principles (e.g. metadata, lineage, stewardship).
- A pragmatic, solutions‑focused approach with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Confident communicator able to work across technical and non‑technical teams.
- Experience with tools such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, or Alation.
- Familiarity with modern data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Microsoft Fabric).
- Background in professional services or regulated environments.
We recognise that great candidates don’t always tick every box. If you’re excited about the role but don’t meet every requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
