About the role
As a Senior Support Worker, you will be working as part of the care team, recognising and facilitating the daily needs of residents, conducting formal supervisions and appraisals, as well as contributing to care planning and coaching support workers. With an emphasis on high quality, the purpose of the role is to maintain the personal care needs of residents, respecting the dignity of the individual and promoting independence.
Kingsley Specialist Services provides support for people with learning disabilities and complex needs, including those who would benefit from living in a more peaceful setting. We successfully meet those needs by delivering the positive behaviour support (PBS) model of care, which is at the core of all we do. The PBS values include person-centred care, promoting choice and independence, participation and inclusion.
This approach must be applied to all the people we support to empower them to live a meaningful and happy life, within an environment which grows and adapts with each individual. We endeavour to understand what the person is communicating and respond in a proactive way to meet their needs, as well as offering an alternative behaviour, thereby reducing the likelihood of behaviours of concern or distress. You will be role modelling this approach and supporting staff to apply PBS in all they do.
