About The Role
As our Deputy Manager (Clinical), you will play a key role in supporting the Home Manager to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care in line with regulatory standards and best practice. You will provide clinical leadership to the care and nursing teams, ensuring that residents receive person‑centred care that promotes dignity, choice, and wellbeing.
You will take responsibility for the clinical governance and the running of the service of the home in the absence of the Home Manager, ensuring care delivery meets CQC requirements and aligns with company policies and procedures. Your role will include mentoring and supervising nurses and care staff, conducting clinical audits, reviewing and updating care plans, overseeing medication management, and ensuring accurate documentation and record keeping.
You will also support with pre‑admission assessments, risk assessments, and ongoing evaluations of residents’ needs, maintaining close liaison with healthcare professionals, residents’ families, and external agencies to ensure continuity and quality of care and other aspects of running the home.
Reports to: Home Manager
Skills and attributes
- Previous Deputy Home Manager experience.
- The ability to engage with the service users to understand their needs in order to provide excellent services of care.
- Ability to identify referral pathway for safeguarding adult/abuse.
- Good working knowledge of CQC standards.
- The ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with external care professionals, families, visitors and staffing team.
- Ability to promote ownership of care programs by fully involving service users and their families in developing, agreeing and evaluating care programs within the home.
Education and qualification
- NMC registered nurse with relevant experience – essential.
