Overview

The Deputy Manager (Clinical) will support the Home Manager to ensure safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care in line with regulatory standards and best practice. The role provides clinical leadership to the care and nursing teams, ensuring person-centred care that promotes dignity, choice and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership to the care and nursing teams and ensure care delivery meets regulatory standards and company policies.
- Coordinate clinical governance and run the home in the Home Manager’s absence.
- Mentor and supervise nurses and care staff; conduct clinical audits; review and update care plans; oversee medication management; ensure accurate documentation and record keeping.
- Support pre-admission assessments, risk assessments, and ongoing evaluations of residents’ needs.
- Maintain liaison with healthcare professionals, residents’ families, and external agencies to ensure continuity and quality of care.
- Ensure care delivery aligns with CQC requirements and company procedures.
- Reports to: Home Manager.
Qualifications
- NMC registered nurse with relevant experience – essential.
Skills and attributes
- Experience as a Deputy Home Manager or similar leadership role.
- Ability to engage with service users to understand needs and provide high-quality care.
- Ability to identify safeguarding pathways for safeguarding adults/abuse.
- Good working knowledge of CQC standards and external relationships with professionals, families, and staff.
- Capability to promote ownership of care programs by involving service users and families in developing, agreeing and evaluating care programs.
