Our client, a household name and leader in its field, is looking for a Head of Privacy Governance and Culture, to play a pivotal role to ensure they continue to meet their data protection obligations. We are looking for someone that can start asap for a 12 month fixed term contract.
About the Role:
As the Head of Privacy Governance and Culture, you’ll be a key member of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) team, responsible for managing and improving this iconic brand on their Privacy Compliance Framework. You’ll provide expert guidance and ensure they’re always in tune with the latest regulatory and industry standards. From maintaining critical policies and data protection processes to embedding a strong privacy culture across the company, this role has it all!
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the governance and continuous improvement of the Privacy Compliance Framework, ensuring all processes, policies, and procedures are aligned with UK GDPR requirements.
- Collaborate closely with senior leadership to understand the commercial and operational needs, tailoring privacy and data protection strategies accordingly.
- Maintain and update the data protection policies, ensuring they meet the ever-evolving regulatory landscape.
- Develop and maintain robust systems for tracking privacy risk, compliance reports, and KPIs, enabling proactive improvements.
- Support the creation of an engaging and impactful communication strategy to promote data protection policies and enhance stakeholder engagement.
- Stay ahead of industry trends and legal changes, making necessary adjustments to policies to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Foster a culture of compliance across the business, driving privacy best practices and supporting the wider DPO team’s goals.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth policy implementation and issue resolution.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications: Ideally, you’ll have a qualification in information systems, governance, records management, or data protection (e.g., BCS/ISEB/CIPP).
Experience: In a data protection-focused role with solid expertise in privacy legislation and compliance.
Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
Mindset: A self-motivated, solutions-oriented mindset, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Technical Comfort: You should be comfortable with technology, enabling you to effectively manage privacy governance tools and platforms like OneTrust.
