Legal Counsel – 2-3 PQE | Exceptional Broad In-House Opportunity
We are working with an ambitious, high-growth technology business looking to appoint a Legal Counsel as it continues to scale across the UK and internationally.
This is a particularly exciting opportunity to join a young business at a pivotal stage of its growth and, importantly, to join its legal function right at the beginning of its journey.
Rather than stepping into an established legal team with defined workstreams and layers of process, you will be joining a small, newly developing function where there is genuine scope to get involved in almost everything and anything that comes across the legal team's desk. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across the business, gain exposure to a remarkably broad range of legal and commercial matters, and play a meaningful role in shaping how the legal function develops as the company grows.
For an ambitious lawyer at around 2-3 years' PQE, this offers the chance to accelerate your in-house experience significantly. You will have the autonomy to take ownership early, the support to develop, and exposure that would often take considerably longer to gain within a larger or more established legal team.

The role - No two days are likely to look the same. The remit will be genuinely broad and will include:
- Drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial, customer and supplier agreements;
- Supporting corporate activity, including fundraising, strategic partnerships and potential acquisitions;
- Corporate governance and company secretarial matters across UK and international entities;
- Advising on data protection and UK GDPR matters;
- Supporting HR on employment-related issues;
- Working on strategic and cross-functional projects as the business expands internationally; and
- Helping to build the legal function itself – developing processes, systems, templates and best practice as the team and business continue to scale.
The business is currently undertaking a number of significant international projects, giving the successful lawyer exposure well beyond the typical remit of a junior in-house Legal Counsel.
About you
- We are looking for an England & Wales qualified lawyer at around 2-3 years' PQE , ideally with a strong private practice background in corporate, TMT or commercial law.
- Exposure to financial services, fintech or another regulated environment would be beneficial, although attitude and commercial mindset will be equally important.
- You will be pragmatic, curious and solutions-focused, with the confidence to operate in a fast-moving environment where the answer will not always sit within an existing process or precedent.
- This will particularly suit someone who enjoys getting stuck into the business, understanding how it operates and finding practical solutions – rather than simply identifying legal risk.
