We are working with a highly dynamic, fast-moving consumer business based in West London that is seeking a Corporate Associate (5–7 years’ PQE) who is looking to make the move in-house as a Legal Counsel. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer trained in private practice to transition into a broad, commercial in-house role with significant exposure to senior stakeholders and business decision-making.
The role offers extremely varied work and will suit someone keen to broaden their remit beyond pure transactional work.
The Role:Working closely with senior management and cross-functional teams, the Legal Counsel will provide commercially focused legal support across a wide range of matters, including:
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial agreements, including supplier, distribution, marketing and technology contracts.
- Advising on UK consumer law issues relevant to the business, including customer-facing terms and promotions.
- Supporting data protection and privacy matters (GDPR) in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Managing and instructing external legal advisers efficiently.
- Contributing to the development of internal legal processes, templates and best practice within a growing in-house legal function.
Corporate / M&A trained in private practice with 5–7 years PQE. Commercially minded and keen to develop broader exposure across commercial, consumer and regulatory issues. Comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving business environment. Confident engaging directly with senior stakeholders and non-legal teams. Prior in-house experience is not a necessity.
