Legal Counsel, 2-3 PQE, Soho based. Commercial opportunity.
We are working with a rapidly growing, venture backed, FCA-regulated wealth management technology business looking to appoint a Legal Counsel as it continues to scale across the UK and internationally.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious 2-3 PQE Legal Counsel or Associate looking to make the move in-house and take on a genuinely broad role within a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Joining a small and growing legal function, you will have significant exposure across the business and the opportunity to take real ownership from an early stage.
The company is continuing to build its legal infrastructure, meaning this is far from a narrow or heavily process‑driven role – you will be encouraged to get involved, solve problems and help shape how the function develops.
The business has an energetic, collaborative and sociable culture with strong employee retention.
For someone looking to build a long‑term in‑house career, this is a rare opportunity to join a legal function at an early stage and grow alongside an ambitious business.
The role
The remit will be varied and include
- Drafting and negotiating a range of commercial and supplier agreements;
- Supporting corporate activity, including fundraising, partnerships and potential acquisitions;
- Corporate governance and company secretarial matters across UK and international entities;
- Data protection and UK GDPR matters;
- Supporting HR on employment‑related matters;
- Working on strategic projects as the business expands internationally; and
- Helping to develop legal processes, systems and best practice as the function grows.
The business is currently undertaking a number of significant international projects, providing the successful lawyer with exposure well beyond the typical remit of a junior in‑house counsel.
About you
- We are looking for an
England & Wales qualified lawyer at around 2–3 years' PQE , ideally coming from a strong private practice background in corporate, TMT or commercial law.
- Some exposure to financial services, fintech or another regulated environment would be beneficial.
- More importantly, you will be commercially minded, pragmatic and solutions focused.
This is a fast‑moving, entrepreneurial business, so you will need to be comfortable working autonomously, dealing with ambiguity and building relationships with stakeholders across the organisation.
- You should be someone who enjoys getting stuck in rather than simply identifying legal risks – confident communicating with non‑lawyers, willing to challenge where necessary and able to find practical ways of getting things done.
