Are you a regulatory specialist ready to take on a key leadership role within a fast-paced, purpose-led business? We are currently looking for an experienced Regulatory Counsel on behalf of a well-known UK brand that’s part of a leading leisure and holiday group. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with strong experience in FCA/consumer credit regulation to join a business with energy, ambition, and a strong sense of mission.
What you’ll be doing:
- You’ll be the lead advisor on all regulatory matters, managing a team of 3 people, and working closely with the Executive team and Board to ensure the business operates in full compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations, including those from the FCA and Gambling Commission.
- You’ll also play a key role in shaping commercial projects, overseeing compliance around financial crime, advertising, data protection, and corporate governance.
Key responsibilities:
- Act as the lead legal advisor on all regulatory matters across the business
- Provide expert guidance to senior stakeholders, including the Executive team and Board
- Oversee compliance with FCA, Gambling Commission, and broader legal obligations
- Advise on financial crime, anti-money laundering, and maintain effective controls
- Support commercial projects with regulatory input and risk assessments
- Oversee and advise on data protection, financial promotions, and advertising compliance
- Maintain governance of a Guernsey-based insurance captive
- Stay current on changes in corporate law and statutory obligations
- Lead development and maintenance of regulatory policies and procedures
- Manage investigations into legal, regulatory, or compliance-related incidents (e.g. whistleblowing, consumer rights)
What we’re looking for:
- A qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with a regulatory specialism, ideally gained in-house or in private practice
- Strong experience with FCA, consumer credit/consumer duty and motor finance
- Commercial mindset with excellent judgment and problem-solving skills
- Able to influence at senior level and manage complex stakeholder relationships
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- Meticulous, practical, and able to deliver at pace
Desirable:
- Experience within the leisure, travel, or consumer finance sectors
- Understanding of broader governance, insurance and advertising regulations
This is a hybrid role, with three days a week expected in their Hemel Hempstead office. You’ll lead a team of three and work cross-functionally with finance, commercial, and legal teams across the business.
