An established international energy services company, supporting clients across the global energy industry through technology and technical solutions, is seeking an experienced lawyer to lead its UK legal function and international operations. Based at the company's Brooklands, Surrey office, this is a senior standalone legal role reporting directly to the General Counsel. The successful candidate will work closely with international business leaders on complex commercial, corporate and strategic matters while collaborating with colleagues across a global legal team.
The Role
- You will lead the legal function on an international basis, providing commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of business activities while partnering with colleagues across the global legal team.
- Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as the lead legal advisor for UK and regional business operations
- Advising on commercial contracts, tenders, licensing agreements, supplier arrangements and corporate transactions
- Supporting joint ventures, governance matters, compliance, employment issues and dispute resolution
- Managing relationships with external legal counsel
- Partnering with international legal colleagues on cross-border initiatives and strategic projects
- Providing legal support for mergers, acquisitions and other strategic transactions
- Delivering legal and compliance training to regional teams
- Monitoring legislative and regulatory developments affecting the business
- Advising senior management on legal risk and supporting commercial decision-making
About You
You will be a qualified lawyer with 8–12 years’ post-qualification experience and strong commercial and corporate legal experience gained within an international business environment. We’re looking for someone who has:
- Qualified to practise in England & Wales
- Significant in-house experience within a multinational organisation
- Corporate and commercial legal focus
- Strong commercial judgement and a pragmatic, solutions-focused approach
- Experience advising across multiple jurisdictions
- Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills
- Confidence to operate autonomously while contributing effectively within a global legal team
- Experience in the energy, engineering, technology or infrastructure sectors would be advantageous but is not essential.
