This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Design Manager to play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless integration of design and construction. Based in Wantage, with occasional travel to the Rugby office, the Design Manager will oversee all design aspects of Oxfordshire and South Midlands projects. The role demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and a collaborative approach to managing multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with quality, cost, and time objectives. Role Overview: The Design Manager will act as the bridge between concept and construction, ensuring designs are practical, buildable, and aligned with project goals. This includes leading external consultants, managing the design and subcontractor teams, and driving the implementation of BIM principles. The position requires active involvement in both pre-construction and construction phases, working closely with Contracts Managers to deliver successful projects. Key Responsibilities: Deliver complete, accurate, and commercially viable design information for construction and procurement processes. Ensure all designs comply with project contractual agreements, budgets, and regulations. Lead and maintain the adoption of BIM principles and execution plans. Collaborate with the pre-construction team during bidding processes to reduce risk and optimise design. Review tender documentation to ensure compliance with building regulations and minimise project risks. Manage and coordinate the selection and appointment of design consultants, utility services, and third-party surveyors. Drive innovation and continuous improvements in project and design delivery. Provide guidance during project meetings and support Contracts Managers with technical advice. Deep knowledge of BIM processes and the ability to lead BIM execution plans. Demonstrated ability to translate design concepts into practical, buildable solutions. Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
