Our client is seeking an ambitious and commercially driven Commercial Director to lead and scale a high-growth fintech division across the UK market. This role will be responsible for driving revenue growth, developing high-performing commercial frameworks, and delivering scalable go-to-market strategies across FX, international payments, PSP and MSB partnerships, and embedded finance solutions. The successful candidate will possess a strong track record within regulated financial services, with expertise spanning commercial leadership, sales strategy, onboarding optimisation, and cross-functional collaboration. Working closely with Finance, Product, Compliance, Risk, and Operations teams, the Commercial Director will play a key role in delivering sustainable, compliant growth while enhancing the customer journey and strengthening the company’s position within the fintech and payments landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute commercial and go-to-market strategies across fintech, PSP, and MSB channels, targeting FI, NBFI, payment provider, and corporate client segments.
  • Identify market opportunities, customer trends, and competitive dynamics to support revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Design scalable sales and distribution strategies aligned with broader business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead commercial forecasting, pipeline management, KPI reporting, and performance tracking to ensure consistent achievement of growth targets.
  • Drive strategic growth initiatives across FX, international payments, embedded finance, PSP, and MSB solutions.
  • Build, lead, and develop high-performing commercial teams across business development, sales, partnerships, and fintech verticals.
  • Provide leadership across PSP and MSB commercial functions, ensuring strong market positioning and operational alignment.
  • Develop effective sales structures, onboarding frameworks, and measurable KPI environments to maximise performance and accountability.
  • Implement scalable commercial processes, governance frameworks, and sales enablement tools to support continued growth.
  • Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, mentoring, performance management, and career development initiatives.
  • Promote collaboration, accountability, and commercial excellence across the wider business.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Proven leadership experience within fintech, FX, payments, PSP, or MSB environments.
  • Strong background in commercial strategy, go-to-market execution, and sales-organisation design.
  • Demonstrated success building, scaling, and leading high-performing commercial teams.
  • Deep understanding of FX markets, international payments, PSP operations, MSB models, treasury solutions, and the wider fintech ecosystem.
  • Experience working with regulated financial institutions, NBFIs, PSPs, MSBs, and corporate clients.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in pricing strategy, commercial structuring, and revenue optimisation.
  • Ability to operate effectively within regulated environments, balancing growth objectives with governance and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation capabilities.
  • Experience using CRM platforms, sales enablement tools, and KPI reporting frameworks.
