Our client is looking for an Assistant Solicitor – Private Client – to join their growing team. You will be responsible for Probate, Intestacy, LPA’s, EPA registrations, Deputyships, Trusts, Wills and Tax Planning.
The Role
- To assist the Head of Department in all aspects of Private Client work as listed in the “Key Areas” section above.
- To maximise profitability and increase the level of billing both personally and for the department.
- To develop and demonstrate a positive attitude to the firm’s business and contribute to its success.
- To ensure the confidentiality and security of all Practice and Client documentation and/or information.
- To ensure that the client is regularly updated as to the current situation of their case.
- To greet clients in a professional and pleasant manner and to ensure that they are accompanied at all times whilst on the premises.
- To issue the Client Care document at the relevant time.
- To ensure that continuing contact is maintained with the client even if a matter is going through a period of inactivity for a perfectly justified reason.
- To deal with routine and difficult enquiries from telephone callers and clients effectively and efficiently and to ensure that all client complaints are dealt with both professionally and promptly to the complete satisfaction of the Client.
- To maintain clear and precise communications between you and other members of staff at all times.
- To develop, support and control “support staff” in order to enhance their skills and maintain a good working relationship.
- To encourage in “support staff” the sense of team spirit which is a necessity for the future growth and expansion of the Firm.
- To ensure all stock, equipment and machinery used is maintained in a safe and secure manner and any faults reported immediately.
- To ensure quality of work produced by “support staff” is to the highest standard and right first time.
- To understand the obligations relating to client accounts and ensure preparation and service of bills comply with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
- To be responsible for ensuring that client and matter input documents are completed in line with laid down procedures.
- To maintain files in a neat and orderly state and to ensure that each file is reviewed in accordance with the supervision requirements laid down in the Office Manual.
- To take positive steps to ensure that your existing clients are aware of the various types of legal work carried on by the Firm.
- To ensure that care is taken to maintain good working relationships with external institutions and organisations whilst still following the correct code of professional conduct.
- To maintain time recording, when required, on Client matters on a daily basis and to submit time sheets at the designated time.
- To adhere to Practice Procedures on the use of the library ensuring all books removed are subsequently replaced at the earliest possible time.
- To adhere to the Law Society’s Regulations and to the Firm’s own policies as set out in the Client Care Letters and Terms and Conditions of Business.
- To follow all the procedures laid down in the Office Manual and the appropriate Procedural Guides.
