My client is looking for a Billings Clerk/Accounts Assistant to join their law firm. The purpose of this role is to assist Fee Earners and the Accountant in time recording and billing and to provide administration support as required.

  • LAA billing.
  • Time Recording of Files - if required and checking time recording.
  • Process all LAA monthly billing, which includes Crime, Family and Prison Law, using the CMS system. Knowledge of LAA billing an advantage.
  • Updating all the spreadsheets and reconciling.
  • Complete the Monthly Legal Aid Agency Submission and billed files spreadsheet.
  • Private Client Billing:
    • Create invoices/send to clients/process payments.
    • Credit control for private client/debtors.
    • Monthly reconciliations.
    • Posting payments and receipts from the client bank account and reconciling.
    • Processing files for audit.
  • CMS:
    • Full knowledge of CMS system (to be trained).
    • Setting up file openings.
    • Posting account charges.
    • Posting receipts.
    • Running reports and reconciling.
    • Review files prior to archiving/work with fee earners to ensure files are Lexcel compliant before being archived.
  • Other:
    • Petty cash.
    • Checking Monthly expenses for payroll.
    • First Aid.
    • HR System holiday/sick leave.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Accounting ability.
  • Excel experience.
  • Full compliance and understanding of accounts rules, HMRC, LAA regulations.
  • Communicate clearly with any parties related to financial information.
