To apply you will need to be an experienced accounts assistant/manager who can implement the firm’s accounts and invoicing procedures in accordance with the firm’s office manual and Solicitors Accounts Rules, and ensure that the Client, Office and other firm’s accounts ledgers are properly maintained and compliant with the Solicitors Accounts Rules. The ideal candidate must have a broad range of experience in dealing with accounts within a law firm and previous experience working in a Lexcel accredited firm.
Job Summary: An experienced Accounts Manager implementing the firm’s Client, Office Accounts and invoicing procedures in accordance with the firm’s Office Manual and the Solicitors Accounts rules.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Implement accounts and invoicing procedures in accordance with the office manual and Solicitors Accounts Rules.
- Ensure Client, Office, and other accounts ledgers are properly maintained and compliant with Solicitors Accounts Rules.
- Anticipate problems and difficulties and take suitable actions.
- Include Bank Reconciliations.
- Produce Month End and Management Accounts Reports, including cashflow analysis.
- Manage credit control.
- Responsible for VAT returns.
- Manage and coordinate outsourced payroll function.
- Keep up to date on all changes in law and Solicitors Accounts Rules.
- Provide an excellent standard of client care and quality of service.
- Convey courtesy and responsiveness when dealing with third parties.
- Assist in implementing the Business Plan.
- Coordinate with auditors for annual accounts and accountant’s report.
- Perform work accurately, reliably, and in accordance with company quality and risk procedures.
- Supervise any Accounts Assistants reporting to them.
- Support the management team in wider management duties.
- Take personal responsibility for professional development.
- Assist with general administration duties (e.g., stationery, office equipment).
Qualifications and Skills:
- Broad experience dealing with accounts.
- Ability to work confidently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent computer literacy, including knowledge of case management systems.
- Understanding of Money Laundering Regulations, Solicitors Accounts Rules, VAT, and other regulatory obligations.
- Previous experience in a Lexcel-accredited environment is essential.
- Strong planning and organisational skills; ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
