Our client is an energy efficiency service for housing portfolios. They combine software and on-site services to offer an integrated advisory and delivery service to Housing Associations, Local Authorities, institutional private asset owners, and private landlords. They are now looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to join their busy and expanding team.

Salary: Β£55,000 to Β£60,000 plus average 20% annual bonus

They are seeking an experienced and strategic Sales or Business Development Manager to lead the growth of partnerships and client base across housing associations, local authorities, landlords, and private homeowners. This role is instrumental in driving revenue, expanding our market presence, and strengthening relationships within the energy efficiency sector.

The Role

  • Drive Business Growth: Lead the development and execution of strategies to generate and convert new business opportunities.
  • Build Strategic Partnerships: Establish and nurture relationships with housing associations, local authorities, social and private landlords, and homeowners.
  • Leverage Government Schemes: Maintain a strong understanding of ECO4, GBIS and Warm homes programmes to identify and maximise funding opportunities. Keep abreast of policy developments which could affect funding mechanisms.
  • Expand Sales Channels: Identify and develop new referral partnerships, broker relationships, and strategic industry alliances.
  • Manage End-to-End Sales: Oversee the full sales cycle from lead generation through to deal closure, ensuring a seamless client experience.
  • Achieve Sales Targets: Consistently deliver against KPIs and revenue objectives. Identify and close cross selling opportunities.
  • Market Analysis: Monitor policy, regulatory, and industry trends to inform business development strategy.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams including operations, marketing, and finance to ensure effective service delivery and project implementation.

The Person

A proactive, commercially-minded professional with a passion for sustainability and proven success in business development or sales. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are confident engaging with stakeholders across various levels. Someone who enjoys working as part of a team but equally happy working independently and driving initiatives forward.

Must have

  • Demonstrable experience in sales, business development, or account management (preferably within energy efficiency, sustainability, housing, or related sectors).
  • Strong knowledge of ECO4, GBIS, and wider government-backed energy schemes.
  • Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker with a results-driven, self-starter approach.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Skilled at identifying market opportunities and navigating complex stakeholder environments.

Nice to have

  • Existing network within housing associations, local authorities, or the property/retrofit sector.
