About the Role

Our client is looking for a

Paralegal to join their Hertford office, supporting a team of Solicitors with a predominantly contentious property litigation caseload.

The role will focus on a broad range of property litigation matters, including service charge and ground rent debt recovery, breaches of covenant, possession matters and general Landlord & Tenant matters .

You will manage your own caseload under supervision while also providing support to the wider Defended team on a range of complex matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle defended service charge, ground rent and possession matters relating to residential property.
  • Review claims and assess the merits of defences and/or counterclaims.
  • Liaise with clients and agents, providing advice and progressing matters as instructed.
  • Review breach of covenant matters, provide advice to clients and progress cases accordingly.
  • Ensure compliance with Court and Tribunal deadlines.
  • Provide general Landlord & Tenant advice to clients in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to clients and/or agents.
  • Provide internal legal support and advice where required.
  • Maintain effective case management, including diarising key dates and keeping database records up to date.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by the Line Manager.

Skills & Experience

Our client is looking for someone with

  • A Levels or equivalent Level 3 qualification; a

Law degree is desirable .

  • Previous experience in claims handling or dispute resolution, ideally involving bulk or high-volume claims.
  • Proven experience in civil litigation , particularly money claims and/or property litigation.
  • Experience with property litigation, breaches of covenant and general Landlord & Tenant matters is desirable.
  • Experience with legal drafting.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and confidently with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders at all levels.
