Family law paralegal

About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and organised Family Paralegal to join our Family Law team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality legal and administrative support across a varied family law caseload, working closely with solicitors and clients.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to develop their career within family law and gain hands-on experience across a range of matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting solicitors with a varied caseload of family law matters, including divorce, financial remedy, private children matters and cohabitation matters.
- Preparing legal documents, correspondence, court forms and bundles.
- Conducting legal research and assisting with case preparation.
- Preparing chronologies, schedules and other case documents.
- Assisting with the preparation of statements and instructions to counsel where required.
- Liaising with clients, courts, barristers, experts and other third parties in a professional and timely manner.
- Managing case files and ensuring all documentation is accurately maintained and up to date.
- Assisting with court applications and monitoring court deadlines and directions.
- Attending client meetings, conferences and hearings where appropriate.
- Undertaking file reviews and ensuring compliance with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining accurate records on the firm's case management system.
- Assisting with billing, time recording and other administrative tasks associated with the management of matters.
- Providing clients with a high level of service and dealing with enquiries sensitively and professionally.
- Supporting solicitors with general case management and other tasks as required.
Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working as a paralegal, preferably within a Family Law department.
- A good understanding of family law and the associated court procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- The ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- A professional and empathetic approach when dealing with clients, many of whom may be experiencing difficult personal circumstances.
- Good IT skills and experience using legal case management systems.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a team.
Desirable
- A law degree, LPC, SQE qualification or relevant legal qualification.
- Experience with family court proceedings and the Family Procedure Rules.
- Experience in divorce, financial remedy and/or private children work.
- Previous experience working within a busy law firm environment.
- Experience preparing court bundles and drafting legal correspondence.
