Are you a Process Engineer with hands-on manufacturing skills? Are you looking for a role with both equipment and process improvement duties? Kingscroft has been asked to recruit for a Process Engineer for a specialist manufacturing business. As the ideal candidate, you will have strong manufacturing skills, be confident in delivering process improvements, and correcting machines and equipment after customer quality concerns. Ideally, you will have experience in CNC programming, which combined with a wider process engineering skill set will enable you to impact existing and developing shop floor programmes.
Your role will involve:
- Producing and expediting general factory engineering improvement plans.
- Providing support to the shop floor as depicted by the engineering manager.
- Project managing continuous improvement projects for the shop floor or as specified by the Engineering Manager.
- Writing specifications, liaising with suppliers, and obtaining relevant quotes.
- Supporting Program Managers on NPI awards.
- Providing technical support on all build phases from prototype stages through to full volume manufacture.
- Supporting Capex expenditure projects regarding new machines and automation.
- Creating and executing scrap/rectification reduction improvement plans.
- Ensuring quality systems are implemented, maintained, and improvements identified/actioned, including Poke Yoke, PMFMEA, Capabilities etc.
- Ensuring part routings are approved and adhered to, and managing route changes through homologation plans.
- Verifying approved routes are being used to actively reduce risk.
- Attending all customer quality concerns and ensuring root cause process fixes are implemented to prevent reoccurrence across the area.
- Ensuring all cells have proven and approved capabilities and visualising gaps/risks and bottlenecks, developing and executing plans to close any gaps/reduce bottlenecks.
- Conducting process audits, risk assessments/machine risk assessments, and actioning concerns to closure.
- Ensuring manufacturing engineering systems are up to date and appropriate for business needs.
- Responding to customer issues that arise, where necessary.
- Ensuring where possible that permanent solutions are read across to other machines/cells.
- Liaising with other support function resources to resolve issues.
- Supporting lean activities within the factory and production areas (SMED, Std work, Value Stream Mapping, 5S etc).
- Representing the company at customers and suppliers, being prepared to travel as part of project support or business needs.
- Identifying and executing tool cost reductions across the area and liaising with the purchasing department on cost saving and reductions.
- Actively looking for engineering safety improvements and reporting progress to the engineering manager.
- Implementing solutions and carrying over as necessary.
- Facilitating customer visits, where necessary.
- Using the company ordering system to raise orders and progress all tooling and gauging via the internal system.
- Producing relevant CNC machine programs and recording and monitoring sufficient backups.
- Modifying work instructions, quality audit sheets, job cards, control plans etc.
- Attending meetings when required, including daily meetings, projects, quality, scrap etc.
- Creating detailed timing plans with the project managers on projects you support with regular reviews and status updates for communication of next steps.
- Driving own project deliverables.
