Closing Date 24th January 2025 Reference KPHNW/25/01/AC Due to continued expansion and increased workload, Kingsbridge Private Hospital have an opportunity for an Assistant Cook(s) to join our catering department in our facility in Ballykelly. Location: Kingsbridge Private Hospital North West, Ballykelly Salary: Band 3.3 £23,288.00 based on 37.5hpw Department: Catering Contract: Permanent Hours: 28 hours per week (average) Shifts include Mon – Sun (Wk. 1: 30 hours – Mon, Tue, Sat & Sun) (Wk. 2: 22.5 hours: Wed, Thurs & Friday) Please note this may require flexibility to meet needs of department. Responsible to: Catering Manager Accountable to: General Manager Job Summary As an Assistant Cook, you will play a key role in supporting the catering service by preparing and cooking nutritious, well-balanced meals that meet the daily needs and preferences of our service users. You will work closely with the Head Chef to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently, in compliance with food safety regulations and health and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Preparing and cooking meals to a high standard, considering the dietary needs and preferences of service users. Monitoring and recording critical control points, including temperature checks, cooling times, and delivery checks, client numbers and meals ordered. Managing food stock levels, ordering fresh produce effectively, and minimising wastage while staying within budgetary constraints. Ensuring the kitchen adheres to all food hygiene and health and safety regulations, setting an example for junior staff and assisting with training and appraisals as required to ensure the hygiene and cleanliness of the kitchen. Demonstrating flexibility by adapting to the needs of the service. General kitchen and restaurant cleaning duties. Ensuring full understanding of the daily food administration paperwork, labelling and recording. Adhere to high standards of personal hygiene and grooming. Work effectively as part of a team and individually. Communicate clearly, professionally and concisely. Be able to work unsupervised and take initiative once fully trained by our head cook. Undertaking any other duties appropriate, to ensure the smooth running of the Department.
