As a member of the Student Application Services team, you will provide the highest standard of IT support to staff and students at King’s College London. This post holder will be expected to work closely and on their own initiative with IT Services and King’s College London and will be integral in providing the Admissions department and the wider Global Student and Admissions team (GSRA) with a strong data foundation and reporting service. You will be responsible for providing dashboards and reports that will assess and provide insight into the effectiveness of the Admissions and recruitment service, measuring against KPI’s and SLA’s, performance forecasting, workload management data, and insights that will help identify time critical periods and planning objectives.

The role will support a range of reporting needs, including supplying data for Admissions FOI requests, HESA returns, and various Admissions-related projects—such as providing historical data for evaluating entry requirements or meeting statutory reporting obligations. It will also offer technical assistance to staff in accessing and analysing data.

Accountabilities

  • Rebuild a suite of PowerBI reports to increase accuracy and efficiency, with supporting guidance documents.
  • Provide a comprehensive real-time performance management and service efficiency dashboard.
  • Provide insights and analysis to effectively identify workload allocation and assist with planning and monitoring.
  • Report on key metrics that will assist SLT to measure performance objectives and forecast on recruitment aims.
  • Support data reporting needs relevant to Admissions for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Identify areas for process improvement and service efficiency.
  • Provide support and technical advice to staff to assist with data retrieval and analysis.
  • Adhere to ITIL based Service Management processes.

Key Skills & Experience Required

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience (D).
  • Qualified and/or experience of working within an ITIL or Agile framework (D).
  • Strong proven data analysis skills (E).
  • Ability to produce data reports and dashboards on a variety of systems such as PowerBI, and for a variety of audiences (E).
  • Experience of using a records management system i.e. SITS, along with experience of using SQL to support and problem solve within that system (E).
  • Strong IT skills and experience of both front end and back IT processes (E).
  • A basic understanding of Admissions (D).
  • Experience of working in higher education (D).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and document writing skills, interacting appropriately with users of various technical skill levels, always remaining calm and courteous (E).
  • Strong fault finding/diagnostic/trouble‑shooting skills (E).
  • Ability to work on both longer‑term projects and urgent requests simultaneously and prioritise effectively (E).
  • Commitment to personal development and knowledge enhancement through networking, learning and identifying training needs and opportunities (E).
  • Ability to identify stakeholder needs and work with limited supervision (D).
  • Full Driving Licence or the ability to work from the Quintdown office (Cornwall) (E).
  • Flexibility to travel to London campus for training/meetings, and to work additional hours as the role requires during our busiest periods from mid‑late August (2 week leave embargo enforced) (E).
