Key Purpose of the Job: The Regional Service Manager (RSM) is responsible for overseeing the operational performance, delivery, and customer satisfaction of the Fire Alarm service and maintenance operations within their assigned region. The RSM will lead, motivate, and develop a team of fire engineers to ensure exceptional service delivery, compliance, and profitability across all customer contracts.

The role requires strong technical understanding of fire systems, operational control, and leadership in balancing customer needs with company objectives. Key Job Responsibilities: Proven experience managing Fire Alarm service teams or acting as a Senior Fire Engineer with leadership responsibilities. Strong technical knowledge of Fire Alarm systems (addressable, conventional, and networked systems).

Demonstrated ability to deliver operational excellence within a field-based service environment. Excellent communication and leadership skills with a focus on people development. Customer-focused mindset with proven success managing service contracts and client expectations.

Proficient in interpreting data and using service management software for reporting and analysis. Oversee daily operations of the regional Fire Alarm service team, ensuring all works meet compliance, quality, and SLA/KPI standards. Manage labour, overtime, materials, and subcontractor costs to maintain profitability.

Ensure adherence to company systems (e.g. Simpro, Monday.com) for scheduling, timesheets, and reporting. Recruit, manage, and mentor engineers within the region to build a skilled and motivated workforce.

Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews, and technical audits. Implement development and training plans to enhance technical competence and career progression. Build strong relationships with customers through professional communication and responsive service delivery.

Manage escalations, resolve service issues promptly, and support continuous improvement in customer satisfaction. Attend customer meetings to review performance and discuss service delivery enhancements. Ensure all Fire Alarm maintenance and testing activities comply with relevant standards (BS 5839, FIA regulations, etc.).

Oversee engineer calibration, audit compliance, and safety performance. Develop and manage call-out rotas and engineer allocation to ensure adequate coverage. Monitor productivity, first-time fix rates, and engineer utilisation metrics.

Provide regular regional performance reports and support national service improvement initiatives. Lead initiatives that improve service efficiency, customer retention, and technical performance. Identify underperformance or operational issues and implement performance improvement plans where necessary.
