Key Purpose Of Role
Servicing, fault finding, replacing, and repairing fire alarm systems, including emergency lighting, in accordance with current standards. Working with access control, fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, intercom systems, and some Nurse Call systems. The ability to think on your feet and a passion for resolving problems, with the confidence to handle any on-site situation.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Investigate and fault find on Fire Detection, Alarm, and Emergency Lighting systems. Knowledge of Nurse Call and Staff attack systems, including Intercall, C-Tec (Quantec), SAS. Familiarity with Access Control and intercom systems, such as Paxton, RGL, Fermax, Videx. Knowledge of CCTV and Intruder systems is advantageous.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all fire systems.
- Participate in an On-Call Rota for Out-Of-Hours callouts and support.
- Repair both conventional and analogue addressable fire alarm systems to a high standard.
- Understand and comply with regulations (e.g., BS5839-1, BS5266-1), fair trading, and competition rules, seeking specialist support when necessary.
- Understand client needs and ensure all jobs are completed fully, cooperating with site conditions.
Essential Requirements For The Job
- Excellent first-time resolution and risk management skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proven experience in the fire industry, including service and repair work.
- Experience with conventional and addressable fire systems from various manufacturers.
- Good installation practices in accordance with BS7671 when required.
- Experience with Nurse Call Systems of all types.
- Knowledge of integration of detection systems with other disciplines, such as interfaces and shutdowns.
- Full understanding of BS5839 and BS5266-1 standards.
- Resourcefulness and a dynamic approach to problem-solving.
- Valid full driving license.
- FIA Modules or industry-standard competency as per RRO-2005.
Desirable Requirements For The Job
- Knowledge of advanced systems such as Kentec, C-Tec, Apollo, Hochiki, and Fire Alarm systems.
- Experience with Gent by Honeywell, VESDA, and other aspirating systems.
- Experience with all types of Access Control systems.
- Electrical or electronic systems background.
- ICEL accreditation for emergency lighting.
- Good overall fire product knowledge.
