If you are skilled in housing construction and building techniques and are looking for a chance to use your skills to make a tangible difference in the community, then we have an opportunity for you to join our Care and Repair Team to help people live independently in their own homes. You will play a key role in improving the lives of older, vulnerable, and disabled residents across the borough.
You will use your technical expertise to assess housing needs, provide advice, and oversee repairs and adaptations that make a real difference. You will visit clients in their homes to assess needs and provide technical advice, preparing schedules of work, specifications, and drawings. You will manage your own caseload from initial assessment through to project completion, liaising with contractors, occupational therapists, and other professionals to ensure works meet quality standards and comply with health and safety requirements.
You must have an HNC or equivalent in a building-related subject or at least five years’ technical experience. You will have sound knowledge of housing construction and building techniques, excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a sensitive approach, and the ability to effectively manage a varied caseload and work independently.
Due to a significant amount of travelling, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential. This post is subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure, through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
