Apprentice Teacher - Salaried Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship with QTS

Train to Teach with Great Schools Trust. Great Schools Trust is seeking ambitious graduates and career changers to join us as Apprentice Teachers from September 2026. This is a salaried teacher training route through the Secondary Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship with QTS. You will be employed by Great Schools Trust while training in one of our academies, gaining practical classroom experience, expert mentoring and high-quality professional development.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with strong subject knowledge in:

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Chemistry

We also have a small number of places available in:

  • Computing
  • Design Technology
  • Food
  • Modern Foreign Languages (Spanish or Arabic)

About the role: As an Apprentice Teacher, you will train while working in one of our secondary academies. You will gradually build your teaching practice through a structured programme of school-based training, mentoring, professional study and classroom experience. You will be supported to develop the knowledge, skills and habits needed to become an effective classroom teacher. This will include planning and delivering lessons, using assessment to support pupil progress, establishing strong classroom routines, contributing to academy life and meeting the expectations of the apprenticeship and teacher training programme.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Have a degree relevant to the subject they wish to teach
  • Have strong subject knowledge, particularly in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry
  • Are passionate about helping young people succeed
  • Believe that all pupils can achieve, regardless of background or starting point
  • Are resilient, reflective and willing to learn
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity and high personal standards
  • Can commit fully to the demands of a salaried teacher training route
  • Meet the right to work, residency and apprenticeship funding eligibility requirements

Previous experience working with young people is helpful, but it is not essential. We are looking for people with the right values, subject expertise and potential to become excellent teachers.

  • Have 2.2 or higher degree in a subject where at least 50% of study is in the National Curriculum subject you intend to teach.
  • Have GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above
  • Have the right to work in the UK and meet apprenticeship funding eligibility requirements (resident of the UK for 3-years or more)
