ROLE SUMMARY

The Deputy Head of Key Stage 5 will work closely with the Head of Key Stage 5 to strengthen and develop our objectives of delivering a safe, supported, and inclusive learning experience for all students. This role includes specific oversight and responsibility for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Online Diploma Programme (DP), ensuring its effective delivery and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of online teaching, the International Baccalaureate curriculum, and the professional duties required to maintain high‑quality teaching and pastoral care. They will lead and manage all IBDP staff, fostering innovation, collaboration, and excellence within the team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee and take responsibility for the International Baccalaureate Online Diploma Programme (DP), ensuring its successful implementation, compliance with IB standards, and ongoing development.
- Lead, manage, and support all IBDP staff, ensuring high standards of teaching, professional development, and collaboration within the team.
- Assist the Head of Key Stage 5 in shaping and sharing the vision and direction for the school, with a clear focus on student wellbeing and attainment.
- Be an outstanding role model and act as a leading classroom practitioner.
- Focus on the student experience and service for families to maintain the highest quality education and support.
- Work with the Head of Key Stage 5 to sustain high expectations and outstanding practice in teaching and learning throughout the school.
- Make effective use of data to monitor and support students.
- Undertake quality assurance activities to evaluate teaching and student progress across the pastoral and academic curriculum, including the IBDP.
- Lead, motivate, support, challenge, and develop all staff to secure continual improvement, including their own professional development.
- Be an exemplar of all school policies and practices.
- Support the Head of Key Stage 5 with performance management of staff, including IBDP staff.
- Participate in recruitment and selection, as agreed by the Head of Key Stage 5.
- Support the Head of Key Stage 5 in accounting for the efficiency and effectiveness of the school to all relevant stakeholders.
- Take responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within the Key Stage.
- Deputise for the Head of Key Stage 5 in their absence.
- Take a major role in the day‑to‑day running of the school, attending and leading weekly meetings as required.
- Contribute to a positive ethos for learning and exemplify discretionary effort.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
- QTS or equivalent; other relevant qualifications desirable.
- Significant experience with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of school systems, processes, and the IB curriculum.
- Outstanding communication, leadership, and people development skills.
- Excellent project and time management abilities.
- Motivated to achieve excellence for self and others.
- Experience working with a diverse range of students and understanding of student requirements in Inspired Online Schools.
- Excellent knowledge of safeguarding and child protection in relation to school systems and processes.
