Overview

This is a part‑time GP Administrator / Receptionist role based in Chingford.

You will work 18 hours per week across three days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday).

The role involves working closely with the Practice Manager and acting as the first point of contact for patients.

  • Core Responsibilities
  • Provide high‑quality administrative and reception support, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day running of patient services.
  • Process referrals and correspondence, screen and code clinical documents, manage document workflows and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Handle patient enquiries in person, by telephone and online, and manage appointments.
  • Liaise with hospitals, clinicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Support and mentor reception staff, assist with staff induction and training, create and manage system access for new clinicians and employees.
  • Monitor administrative processes to ensure efficiency and compliance with NHS policies.
  • Maintain CQC logs, audits and documentation to keep the practice inspection‑ready.

Requirements and Skills

  • Mandatory: Previous experience using EMIS Web software.
  • Strong organisational, communication and customer‑service skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritise a busy workload and work effectively under pressure.
  • Independently accurate and reliable in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Willingness to cover annual leave or staff absence flexibly.
  • Local to Chingford or within reasonable commuting distance (preferred).
  • Working Conditions

Work 18 hours over three days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) with flexibility to cover cover during annual leave or staff absence.

The role requires you to be reliable, committed and able to maintain confidentiality.
