King’s Group Academies is seeking committed and enthusiastic individuals to join our Local Governing Bodies and help shape the future of our academies. Local Governors play a vital role in making this vision a reality, providing support, challenge and community insight to academy leaders.

What the Role Involves:

  • Provide support and constructive challenge to academy leaders
  • Help shape and monitor the Academy Improvement Plan
  • Seek assurance on safeguarding, pupil wellbeing and inclusion
  • Scrutinise educational standards and outcomes for all learners
  • Strengthen links between the academy, families and the local community
  • Uphold the Trust’s values and act in the public interest

No prior governance experience is required; full induction and training will be provided.

Who Are We Looking For?

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. You might be:

  • A parent, carer or member of the local community
  • A professional with skills in finance, HR, education, SEND, estates, legal or safeguarding
  • Someone with a passion for improving opportunities for young people

What matters most is integrity, curiosity, sound judgement and a commitment to children’s futures.

The Commitment:

  • Around 6 meetings per year plus a termly academy visit
  • Approximately 8 hours per month including preparation and training
  • Four-year term of office (renewable)
  • The role is voluntary; reasonable expenses may be reimbursed
