Responsibilities

  • Meet and greet visitors to the Health & Wellbeing Centre.
  • Triage unwell and injured pupils and staff.
  • Enter case details into the school's iSAMS system.
  • Provide assessment and management of pupils attending the medical centre when the school nurse is absent.
  • Administer First Aid treatment on school campus as required.
  • Provide basic care for unwell children and manage minor wounds.
  • Record and monitor pupils' temperature, pulse, respirations and blood sugars.
  • Perform visual acuity testing, colour‑blind checks, peak‑flow monitoring, height and weight measurements, blood pressure and urinalysis for new‑patient medicals.
  • Understand and implement the Asthma, Anaphylaxis and Blood‑Sugar monitoring protocols for emergency treatment.
  • Order and stock medication and medical supplies; administer medication to pupils and staff in accordance with school drug administration policy.
  • Maintain First Aid kits and healthcare supplies; extract data from iSAMS for medical reports.
  • Organise school medicals and school‑wide/year‑group vaccination programmes; file all medical records.
  • Communicate with teachers, parents and health‑care professionals regarding student health.
  • Transfer and escort injured or unwell pupils to the Minor Injuries Unit/A&E or to St. Mary's Surgery (or to hospital) as needed.
  • Escort pupils to required medical appointments.

Salary & Hours

  • 33 hours per week, term‑time only (three full days 9am‑5:30pm with a 30‑minute unpaid break, plus two days 1pm‑5:30pm).
  • Start date: September 2026.
  • Salary: £19,536 per annum (actual).
