Are you a technically credible project professional with a strong grounding in building services or hard services engineering, looking to step into a client-side role with genuine estate-wide impact? Do you enjoy getting into the detail of plant, infrastructure and complex technical works rather than running programmes at arm’s length?
King’s Cross is one of London’s most distinctive and successful mixed-use estates, operating at scale across commercial, residential, retail and public realm assets. It is a live, highly serviced environment, where long-term asset performance and technical quality are central to every decision. As the estate continues to evolve, the Technical Project Manager will play a critical role in strengthening technical oversight and delivery capability.
This role is not a traditional project management position. Instead, it sits at the heart of the estate’s technical function, supporting the Engineering team by taking ownership of complex CapEx, replacement and infrastructure works that sit beyond day-to-day operations. You will act as a technically informed client-side lead, interrogating contractor proposals, overseeing delivery quality and ensuring that works are designed, specified, commissioned and handed over correctly.
Working across a broad portfolio of live buildings, your remit will include:
- Plant and equipment replacement
- Lift and systems upgrades
- Drainage and remedial works
- Commissioning activity
- Metering and performance improvements
You will manage external consultants and contractors, challenge assumptions around specification and sizing, and provide clear, confident technical judgement to support decision-making.
The role works closely with senior engineering leadership and will, over time, support the estate’s evolving energy and sustainability agenda. While prior decarbonisation experience is advantageous, this is first and foremost a technically grounded role, requiring a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, asset life-cycle management and operational risk.
We are seeking an individual with a solid technical foundation in building services or M&E engineering, and experience operating within complex, occupied environments such as large estates, campuses or multi-building portfolios. You may come from a client-side, contractor or service provider background, but you will be comfortable dealing with hard services, major CapEx works and supply-chain management. You will be pragmatic, detail-focused and confident navigating ambiguity in a fast-moving operational setting.
This is an opportunity for someone with project management and engineering experience looking to work for one of London’s most progressive estates, offering exposure to real assets, meaningful projects and long-term impact rather than short-term delivery cycles.
