We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic estates operative to assist the team with the general condition, maintenance, and upkeep of all the schools infrastructure, which includes the Kings College School buildings and grounds.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, from 7.00am 5.00pm.Some Saturday morning work will be required to support Open Days and other important school events.Full uniform and PPE provided.
Reporting to: Site Manager.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Upkeep of hard surfaces, footpaths, and roadways, using the road sweeper and jet wash
- Undertaking minor repair tasks, particularly related to signs, fixtures, and fittings
- Keeping the gardens and footpaths clear and free from litter
- Managing and disposal of waste
- Accessing the site maintenance ticketing system to pick up tasks
- General support for events and activities
- Assisting external contractors with appropriate tasks
- Assisting with routine maintenance of the school minibuses
- Assisting with the maintenance of carpets and furniture
- Assisting with room changes and clearing rooms
- Assisting with fire emergencies by carrying out duties as set out in the schools policies
- Assisting with emergency situations e.g. school closures due to adverse weather conditions
- Assisting with seasonal work including gritting and snow clearance
- Assisting other departments within the Estates team
- Undertaking general duties and dealing with estates issues as directed by the site manager
- Maintaining gardens and lawns as instructed
The successful candidate will have:
- A logical approach to solving problems
- The ability to mend machinery and make small repairs
- The ability to work well as part of a team
- The ability to organise your own workload and meet deadlines
- A flexible and enthusiastic approach to work
- The ability to work without supervision and prioritise workload
- Basic IT skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- The ability to work at heights training provided
- Driving licence essential
