The Education Lead (Pastoral and Safeguarding) ensures that pastoral care and safeguarding across all partner schools are outstanding, robust, and fully authentic to King’s. Working remotely and in person, the role supports schools in developing and delivering world leading systems that prioritise student wellbeing, inclusion, and protection.
Responsibilities will include the following:
- Safeguarding and Pastoral Operations
- Ensure safeguarding and pastoral standards are consistently excellent across all partner schools.
- Support schools in developing and embedding robust, transparent pastoral systems that are authentic to King’s and appropriate for specific territories and cultures.
- Maintain oversight of relevant pastoral and safeguarding policies.
- Lead safeguarding and pastoral audits across the family of schools.
- Student Welfare and Wellbeing
- Monitor student welfare, including social and emotional development, across partner schools.
- Implement systems to track and analyse pastoral trends across the network.
- Oversee delivery of PSHE related curricula, ensuring high-quality provision and alignment with current best practice and local authority expectations.
- Training, Support, and Systems
- Liaise with pastoral leaders to provide training and professional development as required.
- Support safeguarding and pastoral elements of teacher recruitment.
- Support school start-up workstreams to design and embed excellent systems.
- Inclusion and Community
- Lead Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) across the family of schools, contributing to policy and initiatives and responding to local regulatory expectations.
- Oversee the house system across the family, working closely with the Education Lead (Global Student Learning) to coordinate cross-school initiatives.
- Partner School Liaison and Reporting
- Act as an ambassador for King’s College School Wimbledon.
- Attend and contribute to governor and committee meetings when requested.
- Provide regular updates and formal reports to the KCSWI Board on pastoral and safeguarding matters.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Dedicated and hard‑working character.
- Inclusive personality able to develop positive working relationships across the King’s community in Wimbledon and overseas.
- Experience in a pastoral leadership and safeguarding in an early year, primary or senior school setting (e.g. head of year/head of house or above).
- Willingness to travel internationally.
- Strong administration and planning skills.
- A high degree of personal motivation, initiative and energy.
- Teaching qualification or experience.
- A good understanding of the independent school ethos and commercial aspects of school management.
