We are looking to appoint cover supervisors to take responsibility for groups and classes in the senior school to cover the short-term absence of the designated teacher. These are term-time only positions, covering up to 8 periods a day, plus one duty.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing classrooms to supervise and direct pupils to complete work that has been set.
  • Supporting positive pupil engagement and pupil conduct while they are undertaking this work.
  • Taking the class register, and assisting with the follow up of pupils who are unaccounted for at morning and afternoon registrations.
  • Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school’s policies and procedures.
  • Liaising with the pastoral team about urgent pastoral or safeguarding concerns when required.
  • Collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher.
  • Reporting back as appropriate using the school’s agreed referral procedures on the behaviour of pupils during the class, and any issues arising.
  • Being on supervision duty over breaktime and lunchtime, as required, to monitor and ensure safe behaviour in designated play and social spaces.
  • Undertaking other supervisory duties around the school and providing assistance with other general duties when required.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm, and an ability to take the initiative as required.
  • Motivated to work with children and young people.
  • Strong pastoral instincts and a commitment to excellent pastoral care and safeguarding for all pupils.
  • Experience of working with or caring for children.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

  • Start date: 27th August 2026.
  • Salary: £21,377 per annum.
  • Monday to Friday: 08:40 to 16:10 term time only. (includes half an hour for provided lunch).
  • 25 working days’ annual paid holiday plus statutory English public holidays (pro rata) – personal holiday can only be taken during the normal school holidays.
  • Contributory pension scheme.
