They will work as part of an overall team of 6 grounds staff and will report to the head groundsperson or their deputy at the main site.Reporting to: Head GroundspersonMain Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the head groundsperson, preparing and maintaining the sports facilities, including artificial surfaces, at the main KCS school site and the sports grounds at Kingsway, to recognised national standards and to the satisfaction of all usersProviding grounds staff support to matches/fixtures when requiredAssisting grounds staff/head groundsperson with working with various different types of hand machinery and equipment to prepare and maintain football, rugby, cricket and hockey pitches, as well as artificial surfacesAssisting grounds staff/head groundsperson with general maintenance of equipment as directedAssisting grounds staff/head groundsperson with light tree pruning, hedge cutting and maintenance of paths, including leaf collectionAssisting grounds staff/head groundsperson with maintaining grounds and sports related buildings and facilitiesAttending meetings and events, as directedUndertaking any other reasonable duties as directed by the head groundspersonThe successful candidate will have:Previous experience as a grounds worker or similar (desirable)Enjoy working outdoorsSome mechanical knowledge would be usefulAbility to work well as part of a teamA flexible and enthusiastic approach to workAbility to work without supervision and prioritise workload aDriving licence (desirable)Ideally, we are looking for someone with relevant grounds experience, however we would consider applications from candidates seeking a change in career path and have a genuine interest in working outdoors with the school\’s grounds team.
