Senior Business Development Manager

This role sits within the new Engagement and Enterprise team within the world-renowned Faculty of Arts and Humanities at King’s College London. The team will build an innovative third-stream education portfolio, transform our educational offer around skills building and industry engagement, and drive forward industry-focussed research and commercialisation collaborations. Its aim is to increase the impact of Arts & Humanities research and teaching, in particular in relation to the cultural and creative industries sectors, to ensure the financial sustainability and excellence of our education offer and to capitalise on the potential of our central London location to co-create a thriving creative cultural ecosystem and campus.

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is located in the centre of the Northbank District of London’s Heritage Quarter, surrounded by galleries, theatres, museums, heritage sites and thousands of businesses, which range from FTSE 100 companies to the rich local ecosystem of creative SMEs and startups. The new team will catalyse the engagement and enterprise opportunities emerging from King’s unique central London location to create a sustainable and dynamic future for the faculty and its students. We will work with local commercial and cultural partners to animate the Strand Aldwych site to create a flourishing campus and environment.

The Senior Business Development Manager will be responsible for implementing the faculty’s strategy and business plan for third stream and non-traditional education (professional education, continuous professional development, summer schools and lifelong learning), building the faculty’s portfolio and proposition, with a particular focus on the cultural and creative industry sectors. They will be responsible for developing a robust pipeline of stakeholder and employer engagement, focused on income generation, portfolio diversification, impact, and enterprise aligned to the professional education portfolio within Arts & Humanities at King’s.

The role holder will work closely with Heads of Business Development in the central King’s Professional & Executive Development (KPED) team, the Pro-Vice Dean for professional education, and the education leadership team within the faculty, roles across various college Directorates and with the other faculties supporting professional education. This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

• Essential criteria
• Proven skills and experience in business development and income generation.
• Demonstrable experience in external engagement with private, public and third sector organisations, and ability to build internal networks across a large, complex organisation.
• Knowledge and understanding of the Third stream education marketplace and current trends, particularly in the sphere of social value, impact and enterprise.
• Highly effective communication skills attuned to audience requirements and delivered in different formats.
• Significant experience of managing organisational change.
• Excellent task management skills and proven ability to use initiative, prioritise workloads for self and others and respond positively to competing demands and deadlines.
• Highly capable in financial and data literacy, managing budgets, risks, and performance against metrics.
• Experience of effective line management, including a commitment to continuous professional development in self and others.
• Desirable criteria
• Prior experience in a higher education administration environment.
• Knowledge of market intelligence gathering and marketing.

Grade and Salary: £53,947 - £63,350 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance.
