About the role
As a Senior Admissions Officer, the post-holder will manage a team of Admissions Officers to deliver a professional and proactive admissions service for the university. This will include setting clear objectives and overseeing the team’s workload to ensure a high-quality applicant experience, and both accurate and efficient decision-making. As a team leader, the post-holder will be a point of contact for queries from Admissions Officers and colleagues across the university and will be required to research and advise on non-standard qualifications and fee statuses. They will conduct training and impart knowledge with other members of the team, working collaboratively towards a shared goal. The post-holder will be responsible for assisting the university in reaching its admissions targets by monitoring progress of decisions and analysing trends in data. They will work collaboratively with colleagues in Admissions and across the university to ensure a consistent and fair admissions process. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to develop their line management skills in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, and who wish to utilise their skills and expertise in customer/administrative service. This is an opportunity to grow your skills in stakeholder management and decision making. This is a full-time role and you will be offered an indefinite contract. We currently operate a hybrid working pattern and request team members come to the office for a minimum of 1 day per week.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

- Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in customer service, or administration roles. Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training.
- Ability to work under pressure to complete a range of competing priorities; requesting and utilising support as required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills, working to tight deadlines and with minimal supervision.
- Ability to resolve complex queries and provide guidance.
- Successful stakeholder management, working with a broad range of stakeholders in a professional manner.
- Ability to demonstrate understanding and awareness of skills required in effective line management.
- Strong IT skills with the ability to adapt quickly to new software.
- Desirable criteria
- Good numeracy skills and ability to analyse numerical data.
- Working effectively in a team and collaborating with colleagues, with experience in leading others and motivating a team.
- Familiarity with university admissions systems such as UCAS, SITS, e:Vision or experience of an online portal including CRM software.
- Knowledge and understanding of higher education, and current issues and challenges in higher education admissions.
