Job Description
About Us
The King\’s community is dedicated to the service of society. King\’s Strategic Vision 2029 sets out our vision for the future, shaped around five priority areas: educate to inspire and improve; research to inform and innovate; serve to shape and transform; a civic university at the heart of London; and an international community that services the world. Our ambitious Education Strategy sets out the actions that we must take to transform how we teach, how and where our students learn and how we support them during their time with us.
Academic Regulations, Quality and Standards (ARQS) forms part of the Student Operations division. We have a broad remit covering development and oversight of King\’s effective and impactful quality assurance framework, compliance, and governance support, through to regulatory and policy review and ensuring processes and systems are fit for purpose. Referencing the frameworks of external bodies such as the Office for Students (OFS) and the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), we undertake a broad range of activities to meet both external requirements, such as supporting quality assurance reviews, and activities designed to meet King\’s needs, for example, programme reviews and programme approval processes.
The team works collaboratively across the institution, to improve the regulatory, policy and compliance environment at King\’s, and to support the ambitious aims of the Education Strategy.
We are part of the Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King\’s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King\’s faculties to do so.
About the Role
We are seeking to appoint a knowledgeable, experienced individual, with knowledge of analysing data to assist with enhancing existing curriculum. This individual must be comfortable in communicating their analysis to staff at all levels, via verbal and written means.
This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to develop their career in higher education, and who wish to utilise their skills and expertise in data analysis to help the College\’s understanding of its programme data and identify any gaps where data would be useful to have. This is an opportunity to grow your skills in quality assurance and communicating data analysis to staff.
We encourage applications from candidates who have experience from both within and outside of the Higher Education sector where they can demonstrate the skills needed to succeed in this role.
This post will be offered on a fixed term contract, providing maternity leave cover.
This is a full-time post, but we welcome applications from candidates seeking a flexible work pattern within our necessary service operating hours. As a team we are flexible with our working hours, so long as 9am – 5pm is covered amongst team members.
Key responsibilities
- Using a number of different sources, produce summary reports on programme and module data to aid academic reflections of their programme and modules in various quality assurance mechanisms.
- Identify any gaps in data that would aid academic reflections, working with relevant teams across Students and Education Directorate and the College in developing these data sources.
- Review and summarise the College\’s award profile, aiding Faculty and College reflections of the data, highlighting where Faculties should concentrate their deliberations on.
- Assist with drafting the College\’s Degree Outcome Statement in relation to the College\’s award profile, highlighting findings of why the College may be experiencing grade inflation.
