About Us

King’s College London is a globally renowned university known for its excellence in education and is a key site for medical and biomedical research, featuring cutting-edge facilities and fostering a collaborative environment.

Our department, St John’s Institute of Dermatology, aims to enhance the diagnosis and treatment of severe skin diseases by advancing the understanding of underlying pathogenetic mechanisms. Our research focuses on four key areas: cutaneous oncology, genetic skin disorders, inflammatory and autoimmune skin disorders, and photomedicine.

Our research methods range from molecular genetic analysis to therapeutic intervention studies. We engage in collaborative efforts both within King’s College London and with international partners. The strong synergy between scientists, clinicians, and clinical resources facilitates the exchange of knowledge and patient materials (such as skin biopsies and blood samples), promoting a science-driven approach to clinical practice and translational research.

Please see the link below for supporting information about the university including rankings, research outputs, King’s Health Partner Trusts and our current fundraising initiative.
