The School of Life Course & Population Sciences is one of five Schools that make up the Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine at King's College London. The School unites over 400 experts in Ophthalmology, Women and children's health, Nutritional sciences, Population health, and Twin research and genetic epidemiology. About the role:
This research will focus on a project aimed at testing new therapeutic drugs and targets in glaucoma. The post-holder will perform in vitro cell-based assays, such as contraction, gene expression and toxicity tests, and assist in animal in vivo studies. Responsibilities include teaching/supervision of other researchers and managing the lab (ordering, managing tissue samples and equipment, receipt and transfer of materials).
The post-holder will be responsible for the following areas:
- Research and scholarship: the appointee will perform in vitro lab and in vivo animal studies, and data analysis related to the project. The appointee will attend regular progress meetings to ensure the successful conduct of the project.
- Teaching and supervision of other researchers.
- Managing lab, such as ordering, managing tissue samples and equipment, receipt and transfer of materials.
- Dissemination of research, including working on publications and attending meetings.
They will be responsible to Dr Cynthia Yu-Wai-Man.
Finally, please note that this is a 60% part-time post (22.5 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31st August 2029.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
- MSc qualified in relevant subject area, for example Biological Science or similar
- Research experience in cell culture and molecular biology
- Research experience in animal and in vivo studies
- Excellent data analysis skills
- Excellent communication and research dissemination skills
- Excellent time and resource management
Desirable criteria
- Research experience in glaucoma or fibrosis
- Publications in peer reviewed journals
