The Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care (NMPC) is based in the heart of central and south London. It includes the Cicely Saunders Institute for Palliative Care, Policy & Rehabilitation, the premier Institute for Palliative Care, bringing together clinical, research and education teams.

Our applied clinical and health multidisciplinary research transforms therapies, the healthcare experience and outcomes for patients and those important to them, wherever they are cared for. Our award-winning NMPC education programmes span pre-registration nursing and midwifery, and multidisciplinary post-graduate taught and research programmes.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and driven individual to work with Professor Matthew Maddocks and his research team in the field of integrating palliative care and rehabilitation. Candidates should be highly motivated individuals with excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and with experience of supporting health and care research.

The post-holder will primarily provide delivery support to the INSPIRE Study Team. The INSPIRE study includes a multi-national randomised controlled trial investigating a rehabilitation service for people with incurable cancer. The role includes data collection visits, liaison and communication with study partners across six European Countries, monitoring project tasks and milestones, meeting coordination and administration, diary management, booking travel/accommodation, processing purchase orders and expenses, and formatting and proofing reports and papers for publication.

The post-holder will undertake some administrative duties for Professor Maddocks including purchase orders and expenses, preparing agendas and minutes, publication support, finance and budgeting support, and arrange events, meetings and calendars.

The post-holder will support general departmental activities as part of the working culture and environment. They will work with project leads, senior administrators, academics and research staff/students.

The post-holder will have the opportunity to learn about research processes and develop their knowledge and skills in palliative care and rehabilitation research.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until . Our Organisational Development team provide in-house and bespoke learning.

Location: Hybrid – minimum of 2 days on Denmark Hill campus.
