About Us

King's College London is an internationally renowned university delivering exceptional education and world-leading research. We are dedicated to driving positive and sustainable change in society and realising our vision of making the world a better place. This role is part of a major cross-faculty investment in science focused on boundary-breaking research, education and innovation.

About the role

We are seeking an outstanding interdisciplinary scientist to take a leading role in shaping King's research and teaching at the interface of the physical sciences of life and engineering biology. The postholder will develop an internationally visible programme that reveals the fundamental principles by which cells organise their internal information-processing networks and translates those principles into new ways to engineer biology.

The successful candidate will have a distinctive profile that combines quantitative and mechanistic experimental approaches at the cellular level with theory and computation. This may include live-cell and single-molecule microscopy, and bottom-up biochemical or synthetic reconstruction to move from descriptive biology to predictive frameworks. We are particularly interested in candidates who can connect molecular-scale self-organisation to cell-scale decision-making and explore opportunities for building and interrogating programmable biological systems.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and executing internationally leading research and will work collaboratively across King's. You will have a strong research track record, demonstrating interdisciplinary engagement, and be ready to grow a world class research programme that attracts external funding. You will also be committed to educating scientists and researchers of the future through a range of interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
