Overview

In this role you will develop machine learning methods to predict longitudinal psychiatric outcomes from brain connectivity derived from MRI. You will work at the intersection of ML, neuroimaging and psychiatry within a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment. The project aims to improve prediction accuracy for psychosis outcomes and explore novel data fusion approaches. This is a research-intensive postdoc with close ties to clinical researchers and industry partners, offering exposure to cutting-edge brain imaging and ML techniques. You will contribute to impactful work on mental health and brain networks at a leading university setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop ML approaches to predict longitudinal symptom changes in psychosis from MRI-based brain connectivity
  • Curate and process rich brain MRI datasets and derive functional and structural networks
  • Employ and extend the Morphometric Inverse Divergence (MIND) method for structural networks
  • Evaluate uncertainty-aware ML methods and test subset-focused predictions to improve accuracy
  • Explore integrating functional networks with structural networks and potential speech data relations
  • Publish research findings and present results at seminars and conferences

Key requirements

  • PhD (or near completion) in a relevant field
  • Experience with brain MRI data
  • Strong ML skills in Python (scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow) and ability to learn new techniques quickly
  • Experience writing up results for publication
  • Ability to communicate technical results to colleagues and at seminars/conferences
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team
