The School of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine & Sciences (SCMMS) at King’s College London comprises over 70 academic research groups, supports more than 400 staff members and 110 PhD students, and offers an exceptional multidisciplinary environment for cutting-edge cardiovascular and metabolic research.

Our research spans the fundamental molecular, cellular, and physiological mechanisms underlying normal and pathological cardiovascular and metabolic function. This work is supported by state-of-the-art core facilities and a strong emphasis on translational science, driving advances in prevention, diagnosis, and treatment across our campuses at Guy’s, St Thomas’, and King’s College Hospitals.

As part of King’s Health Partners, we benefit from a rich environment for basic-clinical collaboration and place a strong emphasis on mentoring and career development. SCMMS also hosts the British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence at King’s, and the MRC/BHF Centre of Research Excellence in Advance Cardiac Therapies (REACT) uniting internationally renowned scientists and clinicians from across the School and the wider university to focus on both basic and applied cardiovascular research.

The School invites applications for a new faculty position, open to candidates at academic levels—from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer grade. Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.

We are seeking creative individuals with a bold vision and a proven track record of research excellence. We particularly welcome applicants with an expertise in the following area:

  • Myocardial Function and Disease – hiPSC-based disease modelling using CRISPR based methods, molecular and cellular biology of cardiomyocytes, autophagy and ageing, RNA and gene-based therapeutic approaches for heart failure

Successful candidates will have:

  • A strong record of first or lead-author publications
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research
  • A proven track record of securing research funding
  • A commitment to contributing to teaching and academic leadership

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
