In this Lecturer role, you will lead teaching excellence across undergraduate physiology modules, with a strong focus on cardiovascular, respiratory, and nervous systems. You will deliver high-quality teaching and educational research while supporting students academically and pastorally. You’ll collaborate with department leaders to enrich curricula, introduce assessment innovations, and promote inclusive, evidence-based teaching. This position offers a path through the Academic Education Pathway to higher levels of scholarship and leadership in bioscience education.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver education across undergraduate physiology modules and related programmes
- Drive teaching excellence and contribute to educational innovation and high-quality pedagogy
- Undertake and promote educational research and scholarship; engage in quality assurance and peer review of teaching
- Support development and delivery of undergraduate teaching with emphasis on physiology, cardiovascular, respiratory and nervous systems
- Collaborate with Head of Department, programme leads, and Associate Dean to enhance curricula and assessment
- Contribute to administrative duties and maintain teaching portfolios aligned with departmental needs
- Provide academic and pastoral support to students and promote an inclusive, collaborative environment
- Promote education research within the department and wider Faculty; share best practices
Key requirements
- PhD or MD in a relevant biological sciences or clinical subject
- Training and expertise in physiological sciences
- Experience delivering quality teaching with innovative approaches
- Supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Publications in high-ranking peer-reviewed journals
- Postdoctoral research experience
- Self-motivated; ability to work independently
