The role holder will take over responsibility from Professor Ben Quash for this project's successful continuance with a view to its completion at the end of 2030, overseeing its content development, its budget, its project team, and its marketing strategy, while liaising with its web designers (Cogapp) and reporting to its research funder (The Visual Commentary on Scripture Foundation).
This is a full-time role (35hrs) with an FTC end date of 31st December 2027. Renewable till end of VCS Project (potentially 31 December 2030) subject to grant extension.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
- Essential criteria
- PhD in Theology and Religious Studies, involving a significant element of biblical expertise.
- Experience of undertaking a major editorial role in the publication of academic research.
- Experience of the day-to-day management of a research budget, including the contracts of academic participants, and of setting strategic objectives for a project team.
- Experience of leadership in external international networks and/or professional bodies, working with other active researchers and leading thinkers in the field.
- Proven ability to secure funding for an academic research project.
- Awareness of and ability to inclusively accommodate a diversity of identities and protected characteristics in a higher education environment.
- Desirable criteria
- Ability to converse and collaborate across disciplinary, religious, and cultural boundaries, expanding the range of the Department's existing specialisms.
- Potential to produce high-quality publications.
