About the role

To support these and future ventures, we are now seeking a senior clinical medical educationalist with experience of partnership working, developing new UK programmes and understanding of the GKT approach to medical education. The successful candidate will work with new and existing partners to ensure high quality education, engaging meaningfully with GKT Directors to align processes and GKT approaches as needed and drawing upon additional expertise such as that in Faculty Development.

The postholder will work closely with Faculty Education Services (FES) and university colleagues to ensure effective and timely implementation of partnership arrangements. While the focus of the work will be in the development of partnership educational programmes, the arc of projects of this sort will usually involve influence in business development and as projects evolve into business as usual.

Please note: The appointee will need to be able to travel according to a schedule that is appropriate for the task and partner. The full time medical education role includes up to 2 sessions for clinical activity, by arrangement with a KHP trust, as appropriate. Alternatively, a 0.8 FTE role could be undertaken with 0.2 FTE existing clinical sessions from an existing arrangement.

This is a full time post (40 hours per week) and you will be offered a fixed term contract for 5 years.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

  • Primary medical qualification with full GMC registration with valid license to practice and Fellow of Higher Education Academy or equivalent education qualification.
  • Active participation in continuous professional development and associated appraisal of Educational Role (either through NHS or University processes, to include up-to-date Equality and Diversity Training).
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of undergraduate medical education and the King's College London MBBS Programme with experience in undergraduate medical education delivery – across campus and clinical practice (primary or secondary care), devising and delivering schedules of learning and assessments.
  • Understanding and experience of Quality Assurance requirements both of King's College London and of the General Medical Council, with experience of delivering or quality assuring medical education in partner organisations – including overseas.
  • National and growing evidence of international standing as a medical educator and pedagogical researcher, demonstrated, for example through a strong publication record and/or conference presentation of findings, along with leading funding applications and awards for pedagogical research.
  • High level communication skills.
  • Extensive experience and advanced skills in leading and managing an educational team, with a strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion along with creating a supportive environment to foster staff and student wellbeing.
  • The ability to problem solve and achieve desired results within programme constraints and limited resources, with strong negotiating and influencing skills to achieve positive outcomes.
