Overview
In this role you support the SVP Research & Special Initiatives by shaping and delivering the academic vision within the university’s strategy. You will coordinate cross‑functional projects, liaising with faculties, directorates, and external partners to ensure timely, aligned outcomes. You’ll act as a strategic adviser, synthesize information for informed decisions, and manage the SVP’s office operations and budget. This is a high‑visibility, impact‑driven role that requires diplomacy and decisive judgment. You’ll be a pivotal connector across the university and with Cranfield University, driving strategic momentum.

- London Weighting allowance
- Competitive salary (£90,000 - £95,000 per annum)
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate strategic projects and cross‑functional initiatives aligned to the academic vision
- Act as strategic advisor to the SVP, shaping academic strategy and providing decision support
- Gather, analyse and communicate information to support informed decision‑making
- Manage SVP office operations including meeting structures, agendas, papers, and delivery of priorities
- Budget management within the SVP remit
- Coordinate information flow between the SVP office and internal/external stakeholders
- Collaborate with Vice Chancellor’s Office and other SVPs/VPs to align workstreams
- Liaise with Cranfield University and external partners on relevant projects
- Represent the SVP when required and ensure key messages are effectively communicated
- Undertake additional tasks as required within role scope
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
- Solid understanding of UK higher education and research landscape
- Experience in strategy development and execution
- Experience coordinating and influencing diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Strong ability to resolve political issues and operate with tact
- Strong influencing and communication skills at senior levels
