About Us

The Department of Interdisciplinary Humanities is grounded in the tradition of studying human experience with an eye towards a changing world.

About Us

The Department of Interdisciplinary Humanities is grounded in the tradition of studying human experience with an eye towards a changing world.

Drawing on methodologies and subject specialisms across the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, it is home to the BA in Liberal Arts, modules in Cultural Competency, and the MA in Global Cultures, a fully online programme and the first of its kind at King\’s.

Located in Central London, the department uses the city as laboratory, encouraging students to think about the relationship between past and present, and between the global and the local. As a city with rich and layered cultures, London is an ideal site for students in Interdisciplinary Humanities to develop the skills critical to being global citizens.

Drawing on our research expertise in subjects ranging from the medical humanities to cultural production, and from critical theory to politics, we aim to equip students with the ability to map the contours of contemporary problems using the approaches, skills, and knowledge from multiple disciplines. This allows students to learn about the diversity of human experience from a range of perspectives.

Our research and teaching works across many departments ranked top 10 in the QS World University Rankings (2024) and classed as \’world-leading\’ in the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF2021). This makes Interdisciplinary Humanities a truly innovative department within King\’s and beyond.

About The Role
