About Us

King’s Foundations is a department within King’s College London that provides high-quality international pathway, academic skills and English language preparation courses for King\\\\\\\’s students. We are looking for an experienced educator to join our team and coordinate the development and delivery of our King’s International Foundation Programme (KIF). The successful candidate will be a well-rounded leader in educational development including in the use of digital education to enhance programmes of study.

The International Foundation Co-ordinator will work with the Head of Programme and three current coordinators to oversee the development of the Foundation programme, ensuring that the learning outcomes, content, assessments, and modes of delivery prepare students for UG degrees at King’s.

We are looking for someone with in-depth knowledge of level 3 international foundation provision. They will hold expertise in assessment design; programme, pathway and module management; educational leadership; programme development and student support.

The successful candidate will collaborate with staff and students across the university to ensure our provision meets the needs of students progressing through the programme. They will oversee one of four pathways ensuring that students experience a high quality and consistent learning journey across their modules.

About The Role

Key responsibilities

  • To oversee the development and delivery of the Foundation curriculum, ensuring that the learning outcomes, content, assessments, and modes of delivery prepare students for common destination degrees at King’s.
  • To oversee one of four pathways ensuring that students experience a high quality and consistent learning journey across their modules.
  • To develop effective working relationships with academic and professional services colleagues from a diverse range of backgrounds, both within and outside the department.
  • To ensure that the quality of our programmes of study adhere to stated College and sector standards.
  • To help drive innovation and inclusion in education and pedagogy within the department, making sure that this aligns with relevant departmental and college strategies.
  • To embed the principles of assessment for learning across the programme
  • Engage with pedagogic research and maintain a scholarly output to enhance learning and teaching practices;
  • To line manage teaching staff within the department.
  • To teach up to 150 hours per year on the KIF programme.
  • To take an active role in the department’s leadership team, helping to inspire positive change that enables staff to deliver an excellent educational experience.
  • To undertake other associated duties as deemed appropriate by the Head of Programme or Department Executive; for example, managing projects and other workstreams.

Please note that as some of the students you teach will be under 18, and as you will be required to act as Personal Tutor to these students, an enhanced check by the Disclosure and Barring Service is a prerequisite for the role.

In addition, although King’s Foundations is based in the iconic Bush House, a Grade II listed building that formerly housed the BBC World Service, you may also be required to work on any of the King’s campuses, or from home.

This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
