Lecturer in Education

We strive to enhance and develop the potential of all educators who support education - from early-career to experienced faculty and those in leadership roles - through structured professional development, mentorship, and evidence-informed practices. This role is offered as a fixed-term contract for a period of 7-8 months (maternity cover) on the Academic Education Pathway (AEP) We are happy to consider secondments. This is a good opportunity for a colleague who is interested in furthering their experience of leadership in teaching and learning, and who wish to use their skills and expertise in professional development, educational scholarship and community-building. About the role Your area of focus will be supporting the development and delivery of the Academic Education Pathway Network, convening and consulting with the AEP Advisory Group comprising AEP academics from a broad range of disciplinary contexts, and developing a deep understanding of the professional development needs and expectations of education-focused academics at King's. Your role will involve working with King's Academy and faculty colleagues to design, facilitate and evaluate Network events across the academic year, including workshops and conversations that support educational scholarship development, educational innovation, and enhancing education culture.

• Support the professional development of the Academic Education Pathway (education-focused) community.
• Sustain and grow an existing AEP Network where colleagues connect and learn from each other.
• Work with the leadership of King's Academy to ensure alignment of activities with the team's strategic priorities and those of Strategy 2030.
• Work with the wider King's Academy team to contribute across the portfolio of activities, including developing professional development resources and guidance in the teaching and learning context.
• Contribute to elements of King's Academy core programmes, including the Learning & Teaching Programme, the King's Professional Recognition in Teaching and Learning Programme (Advance HE Fellowship), the Graduate Teaching Assistant Development Programme, and other professional development and recognition for colleagues at King's who wish to develop themselves as university educators, across disciplines and career stages.

The interview will be conducted by a panel. The interview will include a test or a presentation as part of the interview, and we will let you have a brief of this in advance of the interview. Interviews are due to be held in mid-October - early November and the date will be confirmed in due course. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed-term contract until 21st May 2027, though this may be extended by a month or two. Essential criteria

• PhD qualification
• Experience of supporting and enhancing others teaching, with a track record of providing advice and guidance to individuals, departments and institutions on pedagogic issues and the wider student experience.
• Experience of teaching, designing assessment and giving feedback, ideally in HE.
• Experience of designing and delivering professional development in an education context, for colleagues at different career stages.
• Experience using evaluative data to evidence impact and improve practice.
• Working in a collaborative team and co-creating with colleagues, including professional services.
• Understanding of the educational, social and cultural factors influencing change in HE, and ability to apply this understanding to the King's context.

Desirable criteria

• Experience supporting staff engagement with research-based education practice; supporting staff to develop education scholarship; and/or developing or supporting communities of practice or other scholarly networks
• Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or relevant teaching qualification (e.g. PGCE, PGCAP, PGCHE)
• Record of scholarly outputs in relation to education
